Many books contain secondary characters that readers often wonder about After writing my thriller A Secondhand Life, I knew there were some relationships that needed to be resolved and questions that needed answered about some of the background characters Hence, I decided to write this short story that fills in the gaps that I simply couldn t weave into my longer novel, lest they detract from the larger story line That s when this companion book, A Secondhand Lie, was born.Following one of my favorite themes of how villains aren t always what they seem, I empathize with a man accused of being a predator, and a drunkard father with a criminal record who may be responsible for his daughter s murder Are they as evil as we judge them while standing proudly on our pedestals Or are the worst among us really no better than us A Secondhand Lie uncovers the lies buried underlies, and the devastation that results Butthan that, it s a story of reconciliation and sacrifice as a son surrenders everything in order to discover the truth about his convicted father. This was a very well written thriller about a son s search for the truth in his father s incarceration and the death of his sister What he finds along his path are lies, deception and is forced to confront his father in his continued search for the truth But what he finds, is not what he expects and the story takes a dramatic twist. Rating 3.0 5.0A good start for a series The book is short, story is good but I think the characters need to betoned and givenpersonality. Finished reading April 18th 2018 In the pregnant pause between my birth and death, life had become littlethan a series of cruel jokes, and I was always the punch line view spoiler After reading A Secondhand Life earlier this month and being really impressed with it, I decided to get a copy of the companion novella as well and read it I normally don t read a lot of novellas, but I was curious about what really happened to Landon s dad and I wanted to seein what ways A Secondhand Lie connected to the main story I m glad there are no obvious spoilers involved, although I do advice reading A Secondhand Life first just in case It will also give you a better feel for the main characters Because on it s own, I can t say I was all that impressed by the novella It s not a bad read and it adds a few new details to Landon s life, but overall I don t think it s necessary to read it The whole mystery around his dad s arrest kind of fell flat for me, especially after the truth was revealed Way too simple and not all that satisfying Some scenes of A Secondhand Life were also repeated, but might feel out of context if you haven t read the actual story The writing is good and I liked the difference in style when the POV changes But overall, I would recommend sticking with A Secondhand Life instead or at least not read this novella without having read the actual story first hide spoiler 2 5 1992, Durham, NC Fivehead thug told Derek Worthington Brother Uncle he had 1 week to get 10 thousand for his boss or else 2 12 1992, Daniel Dan Landon Worthington father, alcoholic was convicted for robbery attempted homicide of Ruby Parker wealthy widow His time will be spent in the Durham County Detention Facility.Mia Germaine Landon Worthington son, narrator had become quite good friends.3 1992, Alexis Worthington niece was murdered Fast forward 5 8 2014, Landon went to visit Dan.5 9 2014, Landon Derek s nephew was looking into his dad s crime went to see Detective Evan Williams aka Dickhead, Durham PD.Next on his list is Gene Grizzle Sanders Derek s BMF Warning This book contains extremely graphic adult content, violence, or expletive language or uncensored sexually explicit material which is only suitable for mature readers It may be offensive to some readers I did not receive any type of compensation for reading reviewing this book While I receive free books from publishers authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one All thoughts opinions are entirely my own.A very awesome book cover, great font writing style Wow, a very powerful well written thriller short story book It was very easy for me to read follow from start finish never a dull moment There were no grammar typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists turns a great set of unique characters to keep track of This could also make another great thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series To be continued A very easy rating of 5 stars Thank you for the free Tabella House instafreebie Author PDF book Tony Parsons MSW Washburn Read this on my flight home today and I didn t realize I only had the short story and not the rest of it Parts were confusing obviously but I m sure they ll be cleared up in the main book Need it ASAP
